EBT Waves Splash Bash

Medicine Hat, AB — May 30–31, 2026 — The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club (AMAC) took part in the ETP Waves Splash Bash over the weekend, hosted by the Medicine Hat Waves Swim Club at the Big Marble Go Centre. The two hometown clubs went head‑to‑head in a spirited and competitive meet, with Marlin athletes delivering strong swims across all events.

Swim Of The Meet

Our “Swim of the Meet” goes to Carleigh Gainsborough.Carleigh entered this weekend with her eyes set on making her first Provincial cut in the 13+under 100 back. Not only did she smash that time standard, in her 100 Breast, she was able to snag her second Provincial cut as well! Your coaches couldn't be happier for you Carliegh and snagging those two times after all of the hard work you have put in this season is just so awesome to see. Well done!!

The second “Swim of the meet” award goes to Lucy Pattison.Lucy came SO close at our home meet to qualifying for her first ever Festivals in the 100 breast missing the cut by less than a second. So when the chance came around this weekend to go for that time again, she made sure to put her best racing foot forward. Lucy absolutely destroyed her old best time by 6.62 seconds and blew right past the qualifying time! She split the event very well going out 50 seconds(just over her best 50 time) and came back 53. This shows that even though she was jacked up to get the time, she swam the race under control and handled the pressure really well. Great Job Lucy!

Heart and Hustle

Our first “Heart and Hustle” award goes to Anaya Motsi. Anaya was the youngest competitor at this meet but she held her own, and then some, against all of the older swimmers! She had best times in all of her previous swims in which she had times for. Even in her new events with estimated times(50 breast, 100 free, 100IM) she was able to exceed the coaches expectations snagging best times in 2 out of 3 of those swims! It was awesome getting the chance to watch her put all 4 strokes on display in the 100IM were she rocked a solid 4.76 drop from her estimated time snagging second place overall! Great job this weekend Anaya!!

Our second “Heart and Hustle” award goes to Reid Hellman. Reid has shown immense amounts of bravery, team spirit, and determination this past weekend. He stepped up to every race with a positive attitude, cheered on his teammates and gave his very best effort in every race. Reid swam fast, worked hard and showed great courage every time he hit the water. His energy, sportsmanship and hustle all weekend made a big impact on his teammates and his overall performance. Great job Reid!!
