2026 Marlin Mercenary Madness

Medicine Hat, AB — May 22–24, 2026 — The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club (AMAC) hosted its annual Marlin Mercenary Madness meet this past weekend at the Big Marble Go Centre. Sponsored by Mercenary Group, the event welcomed 14 clubs from across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. AMAC’s 55 swimmers delivered a standout performance, posting new personal bests, earning achievements, breaking club records, and enjoying a fun, energetic atmosphere on deck.

The Heart and Hustle Award goes to Kacy Johnston for showing incredible bravery, team spirit, and determination at her very first swim meet. She stepped up with a positive attitude, cheered on her teammates, and gave her best effort in every race. Kacy swam fast, worked hard, and showed great courage trying something new. Her energy, sportsmanship, and hustle made a big impact on the team. Great job, Kacy!

 

The Second Heart and Hustle Award goes to Charles Berube. Charles was called up to be the anchor to one of the 15+Over boys relays and did he ever step up! Charles went 13 seconds faster than his best 50 free time and managed to hold a steady kick drive during his entire 50! Well done Charles! 

 

The Swim of the Meet Award goes to Axton Carr for his 50 Freestyle! He came to the meet with great energy and a goal in mind, and his hard work paid off. Axton dropped time in both his prelim and finals races, showing determination, focus, and confidence every time he stepped on the blocks. Great job, Axton!

 

Second Swim of the Meet Award goes to Dain Burnell for his 100 fly, where he achieved his first champ time. Dain has been working hard on staying low, following a consistent breathing pattern, and pulling more water, and it paid off with a best time of more than three seconds. Great swim, Dain!
