2026 Pronghorn Classic

Lethbridge, AB - March 13-15, 2026 - The Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club made a powerful statement in the pool this past weekend as 35 swimmers travelled to Lethbridge to compete at the 2026 Pronghorn Classic, hosted by the LASC at the Max Bell Pool. Facing athletes from 10 competing clubs across the province, AMAC delivered an impressive performance marked by new personal bests, standout swim achievements, and several new club records.

Swim of the Meet: The Swim of the Meet for Pronghorn Classic goes to Maria Robinson for her absolutely stellar performance in the 400m freestyle! This was Maria’s first time trying this swim and, despite some big nerves, she swam SO well, dropping nearly 30 seconds off of her estimated time! Maria has been putting in incredible effort each and every practice and all of her hard work shone through during this swim as she maintained good technique and was able to descend her speed throughout the race. The coaches cannot wait to see how she continues to improve in this race as she gains more and more confidence in her endurance for longer distances. Very well done, Maria! Congratulations! 

 

Heart and Hustle: The Heart and Hustle award for Pronghorn Classic goes to Isobel Tessier! Each session Isobel came on deck with a smile and excited to work hard, learn, cheer on her friends, and have fun racing. A stand-out swim to the coaches was her 100m freestyle where she finished first in her heat, achieved a super speedy new best time, and proved how hard she has been working on her technique even as she got tired in the second 50m! Isobel had a weekend of 100% best times and her energy on deck was contagious, helping the entire group stay upbeat and positive before racing. Isobel, thank you for bringing your entire heart, and all of that “hustle” energy, to Lethbridge this weekend! Congratulations!
