UCSC Holiday Classic 2025

Calgary, December 13–14, 2025 – AMAC had a phenomenal showing at the UCSC Holiday Classic meet! Even without a group all feeling 100%, the team cheered each other on and kept the mindset of giving each race their all. 

 

  • Heart and Hustle award goes to Austin Seeley! This award was chosen specifically for his Sunday swims. After just barely missing a medal on Saturday, Austin was hungry to do better and really brought his A-Game to his events on Sunday. From prelims to finals Austin was able to make necessary changes to his race from the morning swim, snagging him two bronze medals! His focus, determination, and excitement for swimming really shone through this weekend and the coaches hope he carries this momentum into the second half of the season! Great job, Austin! 
     

  • Swim of the Meet goes to Marsha Van Der Merwe! The coaches couldn’t pick a favorite swim between her two Sunday afternoon races; the 200IM and 100fly. Marsha came to the pool each session beaming with excitement for these challenging events and set herself up for success with her enthusiasm and positive attitude. In her 200IM, Marsha showcased how hard she has been working on each individual stroke and tied it all together with a 26.5 second best time! In her 100 fly, she worked hard on “feeling” her kick which is a skill hard to master at such a young age. She found great body position and steady kick to drive her towards a 14.6 second best time! Marsha, the coaches love your enthusiasm and passion for swimming. Keep working hard. Congratulations!
